Birds can be a nuisance for businesses. Not only do birds pose a risk to your property with acidic droppings and blocked ventilation systems, many carry diseases that can have a lasting effect on your employees, clients, the public, and any animals that come into contact with your property. Additionally, a bird’s nest is flammable and if built under certain circumstances, such as in electric signs, there is a severe risk of fire.

Get Rid Of Your Bird Problem With The Help Of Trained Professionals
Some birds are extremely mobile and can become trapped inside buildings while others establish their nests on the outside walls. It is important to note that many birds are beneficial to the environment, while others are legally protected by various levels of government, even if they have become a nuisance to a business owner. You want to ensure you address a bird infestation in a humane manner.
Greenshield’s bird control program recognizes that although each bird is different, methods of control are similar for most. Our program employs a three-step process.
Inspection and Assessment
Greenshield’s bird technicians use the knowledge and experience of over 30 years Bird Control Experience, they understand several bird species’ behaviour and biology. During the assessment, our bird technician will gather information, including your observations, investigate the property to observe all bird activity, and search for the presence of nests and roosting.
Gathering information, the information gathered from you is beneficial in your technician being able to focus his/her attention on the key areas and situations specific to your businesses experiences and needs.
Interior assessment, during the interior assessment the technician will require access to any area where you have experienced bird sightings, noises or have found waste, nesting material and or damage. The level of contamination will be noted during the assessment to provide the business owner or responsible party knowledge of any risk of disease. The technician will conduct the investigating to determine both the level of infestation as well as ascertaining which bird species is the invader. Attention will be paid to common interior nesting locations. This information is necessary in the strategic removal of unwanted birds from the structure.
Exterior assessment will be conducted upon completioin of the interior assessment. The technician will direct his/her attention to the exterior of the structure. Here he/she will be focussed on finding the primary points of entry birds may be using to gain access, potential points of entry, as well as roosting areas. These include soffits, fascia, moldings, roof peaks, roofs, roof vents, chimneys, loading docks, loading doors, entrance doors, vents, roof intersections, and any other potential problem areas depending on building type.
Upon completion of the assessment the technician will do a walk through with the business owner or responsible party discussing and pointing out any areas of concern. At this point he/she will create a strategic plan using experience, training and the information gathered from the assessment to both remove any birds, as well as any exclusion, i.e. sealing, proofing, replacement of vent covers, bird deterrents, etc. Anything needed to assure no new birds will be able to gain access to, or roost on the exterior of the structure. During the assessment Greenshield will take into consideration the likely presence of nests and the steps required to humanely remove the eggs or babies.
Removal and Prevention
Since our inception, Greenshield has always taken a humane approach to the removal of birds. Our process supports this approach and our methods are safe and effective for our clients and the birds we deal with. Once we understand the severity of your bird problem, we will identify a number of options that fit both your needs and budget. The options presented during this step may include:
One-way door bird excluders – Our bird one-way door systems are used at the primary point of entry to remove all invading birds. This safe and humane system allows birds to leave safely and eliminates their ability to return. Once the birds have safely exited, the system will be removed the area will undergo all agreed upon exclusion.
Live Bird Traps – Whenever possible Greenshield prefers to allow birds to exit willingly, however in some situations the capture and removal of an unwanted invader is necessary. In such a case live traps are set up and monitored often to assure the offending captives are released quickly and safely back into the outdoors. Water and food is provided for the safety of the birds.
Bird Control Devices & Deterrents –In many situations where bird control is necessary Greenshield uses physical devices such as netting, bird spikes and bird deterrents to prevent bird roosting activity at your home or cottage. We also employ deterrents such as scare devices to discourage birds for the area.
Exclusion (Sealing and Proofing) -Using the information gained during the assessment we provide the necessary exclusion needed to seal and proof your home or cottage in a way that will balance its aesthetics, closing off any potential entry points and securing any secondary or tertiary potential points of entry to ensure you remain bird free for years to come.
Restoration & Follow Up
Once your technician has completed the removal and prevention work, they will schedule any follow up appointments necessary to check any traps and keep all devices in working order and maintained they will assess the success of eviction with all one-way doors and finally remove these if required.
Once your bird situation is controlled successfully Greenshield Pest Control can offer services in Site Cleanup, Dropping Removal, disinfection, deodorization and restoration. Excluding various birds from your property doesn’t correct the damage they have caused. When it comes to excluding birds, the aesthetics of your facility is very important. Unfortunately, by the way many birds perch or build their nests, building exteriors experience significant contamination.
Though difficult to deal with, it is important for businesses to display the proper image so your brand isn’t damaged. Leaving bird droppings on paint or concrete can cause significant damage as they are acidic and will cause permanent damage. In addition to the droppings, swallows create nests that are almost as hard as concrete and adhere to the side of a building. It can be difficult to remove safely and effectively. Our technicians are fully trained to provide any cleanup or decontamination. We have the proper technology and equipment to quickly deal with both the droppings and swallows’ nests.
Finally, we will review the success of the bird removal and provide you with a written warranty.

Pigeon Trapping (Live Trapping)
Pigeons can quickly become a serious nuisance around homes, businesses, warehouses, and commercial properties. Their droppings can damage building surfaces, create unpleasant odours, contaminate surrounding areas, and make entrances, rooftops, balconies, and loading areas difficult to maintain. Green Shield Pest Control provides professional pigeon trapping and control services designed to help property owners manage persistent pigeon activity safely and effectively.
Our technicians begin by assessing the property to identify common roosting, nesting, feeding, and congregation areas. Based on the level of activity and property conditions, we develop a targeted pigeon trapping strategy designed to reduce the existing population and discourage continued activity.
Pigeon control often requires more than simply addressing the birds currently on the property. Green Shield Pest Control can also identify conditions that may be attracting pigeons and recommend practical preventative measures to help reduce future problems.
Whether you’re dealing with pigeons around a residential property, apartment building, retail location, industrial facility, or other commercial property, our team can provide a solution tailored to your situation.

Sparrow Control
Sparrows can become a persistent problem when they begin nesting or roosting around homes, commercial buildings, warehouses, loading docks, and other structures. Their nests and droppings can create unsanitary conditions, damage property, contaminate stored products, and cause ongoing maintenance issues. Green Shield Pest Control provides professional sparrow control services designed to address existing bird activity and help prevent future problems.
Our technicians begin with a detailed property assessment to identify nesting sites, entry points, feeding areas, and locations where sparrows regularly gather. Based on the findings, we develop a customized control strategy appropriate for the property and level of activity.
Effective sparrow management often requires a combination of removal, exclusion, and prevention. Green Shield Pest Control can identify areas where birds are gaining access and recommend solutions to reduce nesting and roosting opportunities.
We provide sparrow control solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and multi-unit properties. Our goal is to provide a practical, long-term approach that protects your property while reducing recurring bird activity.

Swallow Control
Swallows can become a recurring problem when they build nests around homes, commercial buildings, warehouses, barns, rooflines, overhangs, and other structures. Nesting activity can lead to accumulated droppings, staining, debris, and ongoing maintenance concerns. Green Shield Pest Control provides professional swallow control services designed to help property owners manage unwanted bird activity and reduce future nesting problems.
Our technicians begin by inspecting the property to identify nesting areas, access points, and locations that are attracting swallow activity. We then develop a customized control and prevention strategy based on the building, severity of the problem, and applicable wildlife regulations.
Because swallows and their active nests may be protected under federal or provincial wildlife laws, timing and the control methods used can be important. Our approach focuses on appropriate exclusion and deterrent solutions while taking applicable requirements into consideration.
Preventative measures may include identifying vulnerable nesting locations, restricting access where appropriate, and recommending modifications that make the structure less attractive for future nesting.
Green Shield Pest Control provides swallow control solutions for residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial properties.

Goose Control
Geese can become a significant nuisance when they regularly gather around commercial properties, residential communities, parks, ponds, golf courses, industrial sites, and other landscaped areas. Large populations can leave substantial amounts of droppings, damage lawns and vegetation, create aggressive encounters during nesting season, and make outdoor spaces difficult to use. Green Shield Pest Control provides professional goose control services designed to reduce unwanted goose activity and help protect your property.
Our technicians begin by assessing the property to identify feeding areas, nesting locations, water sources, and other conditions attracting geese. We then develop a customized goose management strategy based on the property and severity of the problem.
Effective goose control often requires an ongoing approach using appropriate deterrent, exclusion, habitat-management, and prevention techniques. Our goal is to make the property less attractive to geese while reducing recurring activity.
Because Canada geese and other migratory birds are protected by wildlife regulations, certain control, relocation, nest, and egg-management activities may require specific permits or restrictions. Green Shield Pest Control takes applicable regulations into consideration when recommending solutions.

Gull Control
Gulls can become a serious nuisance when they gather, roost, or nest around commercial buildings, rooftops, parking lots, industrial facilities, residential properties, and waterfront areas. Large numbers of gulls can create excessive noise, leave significant amounts of droppings, damage property, scatter garbage, and become aggressive when protecting nests or young. Green Shield Pest Control provides professional gull control services designed to reduce unwanted activity and help protect your property.
Our technicians begin with a detailed inspection to identify nesting and roosting locations, food sources, access points, and other conditions attracting gulls. We then develop a customized control strategy based on the property, level of activity, and specific challenges involved.
Effective gull management may include exclusion, deterrent, habitat modification, and other preventative measures designed to make the property less attractive for future nesting and roosting.
Because gulls and other migratory birds may be protected under applicable wildlife regulations, certain control methods can be subject to restrictions or permit requirements. Green Shield Pest Control considers these requirements when developing an appropriate solution.
