Spring
During the spring, rising temperatures and moisture levels offer perfect environments for pests to expand their colonies. Many pests are waking from their dormant states and will look outside your home for fresh breeding grounds or food.
Summer
Population growth during the spring puts pressure on a colony. Collectively, most focus on long term stability which requires food. Pest activity will transition, becoming more active. Your guard protocol must reflect this more active state as the pests are often more mobile as well.
Fall
During the fall, pest populations have matured, the pests themselves are ready to breed. Several pest species will begin branching out as new queens become fertile and start breeding. Dropping temperatures and food scarcity will also be forcing many pests to seek shelter. Your protocol will need to be looking at repelling the pests from the home.
Winter
Often frigid temperatures in Canada force pests to lay dormant for much of the winter. Food scarcity is the highest during this time and only a few pests are actually active and visible. However, you can still treat them to prevent colony growth. This is an opportune time to establish an exclusion program to ensure no pests can return to your home.
